An interesting note is that according to census records, the Reaud Plantation was right next to the Plantation run by the Wilkinson's in New Orleans. I know they lost the plantation because of the flood. It seems Jules and Lucy left New Orleans and went to Jennings 2 years after they were married. From all the stories I've heard, "Dad Reaud" (Jules Reaud, Sr.) was a very interesting character that everyone knew and tried their best to stay on the good side of. He had a very hot temper and wasn't afraid to stand up to anyone. I found Jules Reaud Sr.'s obituary in the Jennings Daily News. I'm still trying to confirm some of the information (about the AL stuff). Victor Reaud was a Lt. in the Royal Fuseliers Guard (NO) and was also listed as a 1st Lt. Captain in Latrigue's Company (Bienville Guards-5th Regiment, Company C). He was listed on the Federal Rolls Prisoners of War, Captured in New Orleans, LA on October 03, 1862. According to his son's obituary he was the Quartermaster General for the Confederate troops in Alabama (I'm trying to confirm this information).
